    Mangifera indica, commonly known as mango, is a species of flowering plant in the sumac and poison ivy family Anacardiaceae. It is found in the wild in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan where it is indigenous and cultivated varieties have been introduced to other warm regions of the world. It is a large fruit-tree, capable of a growing to a height and crown width of about 100 feet and trunk circumference of more than twelve feet.In this oriental system of traditional medicines, varied medicinal properties are attributed to different parts of the mango tree, both as food and medicine. It is anti-diuretic, anti-diarrheal, anti-emetic and cardiac herb.Modern research showed Mangifera indica are abundant with Mangiferin , a xanthonoid which know for its bioactivities associated with antioxidant activities.

    Mangiferin is natural current amount mangoes such as Irvingia Gabonens.The molecule is a glucoside of norathyriol.Mangiferin has been traditionally used in some parts of world as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, antioxidant, immunomodulator, antitumor, antiviral, and anthelminthic and in obesity treatment.Laboratory study has identified a variety of potential pharmacology associated with mangiferin including antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, inhibitory effects on type II 5α-reductase in vitro,and gastroprotective and antidiabetic effects in rodents.
